Can I sue someone who is trying to send me a fake Cashiers Check?

Ok, so I added an item on Craigs List, and this guy writes me and says he is going to send me a Cashiers check with the amount of money I want for my item, but he is going to add a little more onto the check so I can send money to his “shipper” to cover the cost of shipping the item to New York.. It sounded kinda weird to me, but what the heck. will see.. well he over nighted the Cashiers Check, and im waiting for it to come via UPS.. so when it gets here my plan is to take it to the bank and have them run the routing number to make sure it is real.. and if it is not.. than would it be possible to sue him for fraud?
